Rebuilding your network in a new city or a new field
Starting over is intimidating, but a network almost never truly starts from zero.
Your current network is your first starting point
Before looking for strangers, check who in your existing network already knows someone in the city or field you're targeting. An introduction from someone you trust is far better than a cold start, even in a completely new context.
Make yourself visible and available
An up-to-date profile, with the right location and "available" status turned on, helps your network know you're in a rebuilding phase. Many opportunities come from people who wouldn't have thought of you without that explicit signal.
Accept that it takes time
A solid network is built over months, not weeks, even for someone experienced who's simply changing context. Patience and consistency matter more than the intensity of the first few weeks, which almost always fades quickly if it isn't sustained over time.
